Valencia is situated near the Mediterranean coast in the east of the country, at an altitude between 250 and 1000 meters. The climate is warm with a strong influence from the Mediterranean Sea. For centuries vines have been grown on the chalky, clay soils which, in combination with long hours of sunshine, produce fruity wines that are well structured with ripe tannins.

Winemaking

The grapes are fermented using traditional methods during 12 days at 26ºC, but using modern winemaking technology. The wine is aged in stainless steel tanks for 6 months.

Tasting Notes

Colour: Deep red, with light violet reflexes. Aroma: Fruity notes and a toasted background (mocha coffee). Nuances of spices and leather. Taste: Velvety and dense with a firm and elegant body.

Serving suggestions

Gran Castillo Shiraz is a medium sweet red wine, goes well with the majority of dishes. Delicious with game dishes, spiced dishes and goat cheeses.

Valencia se encuentra cerca de la costa mediterránea, al este del país, a una altitud de entre 250 y 1000 metros. El clima es cálido y está muy influenciado por el mar Mediterráneo. Desde hace siglos se cultiva la vid en suelos calcáreos y arcillosos que, junto con las largas horas de sol, dan lugar a vinos afrutados, bien estructurados y con taninos maduros.

Winemaking

Selección cuidadosa de las mejores uvas de Cabernet Sauvignon. Las uvas se despalillan, se prensan suavemente y se vinifican en depósitos de acero inoxidable. Maceración en frío a una temperatura de entre 12 y 14 ºC. Fermentación a temperatura controlada de 26 ºC, lo que garantiza la conservación de los aromas primarios. Tras la fermentación maloláctica, el vino se estabiliza en frío y se filtra antes del embotellado.

Color: Rojo rubí brillante. Aroma: Una combinación de suaves aromas frutales a frutos del bosque. Sabor: Afrutado, jugoso y dulce, suave, bien estructurado y con un final largo.

El Gran Castillo Cabernet Sauvignon es un vino tinto semidulce, bien equilibrado y deliciosamente redondo. Ideal para acompañar carnes rojas, pasta, embutidos y quesos.

Winemaking

Gentle pressing of the grapes followed by a short maceration on the skins. Only the free run juice, which is gravity fed, is used for this wine. Fermentation in stainless steel tanks for 20 to 25 days at controlled temperature of 14ºC using selected yeasts.

Colour: Bright cherry. Aroma: Intense aromas of red fruits. Taste: Fresh and sweet.

Gran Castillo Tempranillo Rosé is a medium sweet rosé wine, ideal with pasta, rice, poultry and oriental dishes. This fresh and fruity wine can also be enjoyed on its own as an aperitif.

Winemaking

The best grapes of both varieties are carefully picked then vinified separately. Cold pellicular maceration at 12ºC for 6 hours followed by fermentation in stainless steel tanks for 20 to 25 days at controlled temperature of 16ºC and using selected yeasts. Blending and ageing in stainless steel tanks before bottling.

Colour: Bright, pale yellow with green hues. Aroma: Powerful citrus and ripe white fruit flavours. Taste: A crisp firm structure and elegant, stylish finish.
